Police in Nyendo Mukungwe Division in Masaka have apprehended four individuals suspected of being involved in the sale of marijuana in Masakacentral region city.

The suspects, all residents of Mukudde village in Nyendo, include a 61-year-old man his wife of 42, and their son aged 24,

Police said they were found in possession of a significant quantity of marijuana, along with seeds and equipment used for cultivation.

Additionally, it has been reported that the authorities seized a 5-acre field suspected to be used for the cultivation of the illicit substance.

The farm owner and his family were caught with marijuana store where police recovered all kinds of marijuana, including seeds, sticks, boxes and bags of marijuana.

One of the suspect had a farm of marijuana.

The operation leading to the arrests was carried out meticulously, with law enforcement officials deploying various tactics to apprehend the culprits.

The diligence and coordination displayed by the authorities in executing this operation underscore their commitment to combating illegal drug trade in the region.

Following their arrest, the suspects have been detained at the Nyendo police station pending further investigation and legal proceedings.

‘All unlawful acts that happens in Masaka such as killings, raping etc. we finds that people who engage in them are drug addicts so we warn all those who are related to marijuana that we are going to look for you and arrest you," said Twaha Kasirye, the southern region police spokesperson.

Local residents have expressed relief and appreciation for the efforts of law enforcement agencies in addressing the issue of drug trafficking in their community.
